Kicks (kicks.kb-prime.com) is a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program and the Amazon Associates Program in Australia, affiliate advertising programs designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to amazon.com.au.

What this means in plain English

Some of the links on this site are "affiliate links." If you click one of these links and buy something at Amazon AU, we receive a small commission from Amazon. The price you pay does not change. Amazon pays us out of their margin, not by increasing your price.

This commission is how Kicks funds its writing time. We don't run display advertising, we don't sell user data, and we don't accept paid sponsorships. Affiliate commissions are our only source of revenue.

How it affects what we write

It doesn't. We write what we genuinely think about each shoe. When something is overhyped, we say so. When a cheaper alternative is better, we recommend it — even if the commission on it is lower. The economics of our site only work if you trust us, and you'll only trust us if we tell the truth.

Specifically:

  • We are not paid by brands to write reviews.
  • We do not accept free products. We buy what we review.
  • We do not let brands review or approve articles before publication.
  • Our affiliate links go through the standard Amazon Associates program. We don't use undisclosed redirects.

How to spot an affiliate link

On Kicks, every Amazon link is an affiliate link. They're the buttons that say "Check price on Amazon AU" and any inline link to amazon.com.au. We've intentionally not hidden them — you can hover any link and see amazon.com.au in the destination.

Cookies and tracking

When you click an affiliate link to Amazon AU, Amazon sets a cookie in your browser that lets them attribute the eventual purchase to our site. This cookie typically lasts 24 hours. We don't see your purchase details — only the aggregate commission Amazon pays us. For more on what data we collect, see our privacy policy.
