Kicks is a small independent publication covering casual footwear for Australian shoppers. We write sizing guides, brand comparisons, and honest reviews — the kind of advice you'd ask a friend who'd already bought four pairs of the same shoe.
Why Kicks exists
Shoe shopping in Australia is harder than it should be. Sizes are converted inconsistently between US, UK, and AU systems. Prices jump around. Reviews on global sites don't account for our climate, our walking surfaces, or our return policies. Most "best of" lists are AI-generated affiliate spam that nobody at the publishing site has actually worn.
We started Kicks because we kept buying the wrong size online, and the existing advice was almost useless. Every article on this site is written from real first-hand testing — either by us, or by people in our household whose feet we've measured.
How we work
- We buy the shoes. No brand has ever sent us a free pair, and we wouldn't accept one. Every shoe reviewed here was paid for at retail.
- We use Amazon affiliate links. When you click through to Amazon AU and buy, we earn a small commission. It doesn't change your price. It's how we fund the time we spend writing.
- We say when something isn't worth it. If a shoe is overhyped, the review will say so. We're not in the business of recommending things we wouldn't buy ourselves.
- We update articles. Sizing changes between batches. Prices change weekly. We re-verify each article every few months and stamp the "last verified" date at the bottom.
